Wishing Well, oil paint, fabric, and string on stretched canvas, 24 x 30 in., 2019.

This painting is part of my "Places & Spaces" series where I explored the relationship between memory and dreaming. I experimented with creating illusionistic spaces within the painting by cutting out sections of the canvas and replacing with sheer fabric. This creates shadows and the illusion of 3D space in a 2D painting. The figures are made from a combination of string and thread that have been soaked in fabric stiffener to form the shapes and are sewn onto the painting. These string figures are fragile. The painting is framed using tradition fabrics.
